Ampotech, Infineon Collaboration Highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat
01/12/2020Innovation Recognised at Infineon’s 50-Year Milestone in Singapore
Earlier this week, progress in technology and sustainability was highlighted as Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, and Minister for Finance, Heng Swee Keat, spotlighted Ampotech during an event commemorating Infineon Technologies’ 50th anniversary in Singapore. The milestone celebration reflected not only Infineon’s long-standing presence in the country but also the role of innovation-led collaboration in shaping Singapore’s future economy.
The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology partners to highlight how global enterprises and local startups can collaborate to accelerate advancement. Within this context, Ampotech’s collaboration with Infineon was highlighted as a strong example of how co-innovation can deliver real-world impact in energy and digital technology.
Advancing Evolution Through Co-Innovation Partnerships
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat referenced Infineon’s Co-Innovation Startup Space, a strategic initiative designed to foster transformation by connecting startups with Infineon’s deep expertise in semiconductors, digital security, and advanced R&D. Launched in Singapore in 2018, the initiative reflects Infineon’s commitment to strengthening the local advancement ecosystem beyond its core operations.
He noted:
“Besides establishing a large operation base here, Infineon also contributes to the growth of Singapore’s evolution movement. In 2018, Infineon launched its first-ever Co-innovation Startup space in Singapore. To date, this initiative has supported eight local startups, spanning a variety of areas. Ampotech, is one of the startups. With support from Infineon’s experienced R&D team, Ampotech developed a smart meter that accurately measures the energy usage of a wide variety of applications, in industry and at home.”
The Deputy Prime Minister’s remarks underscored how structured co-innovation platforms can serve as powerful engines for innovation, enabling startups to transform ideas into scalable, market-ready solutions.
Ampotech and Infineon: Innovation in Action
Among the startups supported by Infineon’s Co-Innovation Startup Space, Ampotech stands out for its close collaboration with Infineon’s Digital Security Solutions team. Through this partnership, the two companies co-developed advanced energy solutions that combine precision measurement, secure digital architecture, and practical deployment requirements.
This evolution-driven collaboration was formally recognized in 2020, when Ampotech and Infineon jointly received the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) Award for Best Green Collaboration. The award validated the partnership’s ability to align technological transformation with sustainability outcomes—an increasingly important benchmark for energy and technology companies.
Smart Meter Evolution for Industry and Residential Applications
At the center of this collaboration is Ampotech’s smart meter evolution, developed with support from Infineon’s experienced R&D team. The solution is designed to accurately measure energy usage across a wide range of applications, from industrial environments and commercial buildings to residential homes.
By delivering detailed, reliable energy data, the smart meter enables users to better understand consumption patterns, identify inefficiencies, and implement targeted energy-saving measures. This level of insight is essential for organizations seeking to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and support carbon reduction goals.
Such transformation is particularly relevant as Singapore continues to advance its sustainability agenda and transition toward smarter, more data-driven energy systems.
National Recognition of Local Energy Progress
The recognition at Infineon’s anniversary event builds on Ampotech’s broader homegrown advancement journey in Singapore. In February 2019, Lawrence Wong, then Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, cited Ampotech as an example of local progress in energy and building technology.
This earlier acknowledgment highlighted how Singapore-based companies can leverage breakthroughs to address complex challenges in urban development, energy efficiency, and digital transformation—areas that are critical to the nation’s long-term growth and resilience.
Transformation Through Collaboration and Ecosystem Building
Ampotech’s continued recognition reflects a broader truth about transformation: meaningful progress rarely happens in isolation. By actively collaborating with global technology leaders like Infineon, Ampotech ensures that its innovations are not only technologically advanced but also robust, secure, and ready for real-world deployment.
This collaborative approach aligns closely with Singapore’s national innovation strategy, which emphasizes ecosystem building, cross-sector partnerships, and the translation of research into tangible outcomes.
Shaping the Future of Sustainable Energy Innovation
As energy systems become increasingly interconnected and digital, innovation at the intersection of hardware, software, and security will play a defining role in the future of energy management. The Ampotech–Infineon collaboration illustrates how co-innovation can drive smarter, more sustainable energy solutions while supporting national and regional sustainability goals.
With a continued focus on innovation, collaboration, and impact, Ampotech remains committed to advancing energy technologies that help businesses and communities build a more efficient and sustainable future.
